This past July, myself and 38,000 other people had the chance to visit New Orleans during the ELCA's Youth Gathering. 38,0000 people crammed into the Superdome to listen to inspirational speakers and music. The best part of all? 38,0000 people were able to hear the story of Viola Vaughn and how she is changing the lives of young girls in Africa by giving them an education. The persistence of a grandchild's friend transformed Viola'a life and the lives of young girls failing in school in Senegal. She's a CNN Hero of the Year (click here to hear more). Unfortunately, she was only given 12-15 minutes to speak at the Youth Gathering. As she walked off the stage you could tell the crowd shared a single unanimous opinion. "We want to hear more!" This October, I am excited to say "the plane tickets are booked! She's coming!" Everyone who attends the Africa Summit will get to hear more. (A full 45-50 minutes more!) Don't miss the chance to hear how a single person, by God's grace, has the opportunity to positively impact the lives of so many. Come to the Africa Summit and hear from Bishop Wayne Miller of the Metropolication Chicago Synod of the ELCA, Lynne Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church, David Young COO of World Vision, and others who have a heart for Africa.
